Local Lifestyle

This unique, laid-back suburb allows its lucky locals to enjoy a lakeside lifestyle throughout the year. Lake Lansing is a great place for photography, nature watching, swimming, boating, and fishing during the warmer months, while the community's several other parks are enjoyed year-round. Golf courses are popular places to enjoy a relaxing weekend, with many residents opting to purchase a membership in a private club to enjoy on-site dining, fitness facilities, and other physical pursuits. While the country clubs are great for high-end dining, Haslett boasts many unpretentious, casual spots to enjoy hearty eats at all times of the day.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Fernando‘s Café is one of Haslett’s best places to start the day. This comfortable, homey dining room is positioned within the heart of town, making it easily accessible from all Haslett neighborhoods. While generous breakfast combos start the day, lunchtime brings an array of filling sandwiches, patty melts, and old-fashioned burgers.
El Oasis is one of Haslett’s favorite Mexican eateries, served from an unsuspecting food truck. The menu is small and simple but packs a punch of flavor with their authentic barbacoa, al pastor, and other Mexican specialties.

For proper sit-down meals, locals frequent The Watershed Tavern and Grill. Guests come for the boom boom shrimp, smothered mac and cheese, and loaded sandwiches, but they stay for the larger-than-life Bloody Mary selections. A separate menu allows customers to add onion rings, cheeseburger sliders, bacon, and grilled cheese sandwiches, which are far more unique than traditional stuffed olives.

Lansing‘s nearness to the Great Lakes allows local restaurants to enjoy fresh seafood every day of the week, and Blue Gill Grill takes advantage of this. Fish tacos, fresh grouper, and fish and chips keep this menu on theme, with freshly baked pizzas and grade “A” steaks offering some diversity to the menu.

Things To Do

Haslett is situated right on Lake Lansing, its beach, and its parks. Locals are a stone's throw from swimming, boating, fishing, and lying out under the sun. On dry land, Nancy Moore Park is a nearby open greenspace featuring trails, playground equipment for kids, and sporting areas for volleyball, baseball, basketball, and soccer. The park is also an off-leash area for smaller dogs to exercise and run off energy. Haslett and many other Lansing communities are also home to a high number of golf courses, both public and private. Lake O’ The Hills Golf Course is a public, nine-hole course with a clubhouse and pool for private event rentals. A well-maintained green and various slopes and hills make this course fun for beginners and experienced golfers alike.

Haslett residents are served by Haslett Public Schools. Members of this close-knit community are proud to send their children to:
